| 2 teaspoons | baking powder |
| 2/3 cup | skim or reconstituted nonfat dry milk |
| 1 tablespoon | oil or melted shortening |
| 1 | egg, slightly beaten |

- In mixing bowl combine flour and baking powder
- Stir in remaining ingredients until the dry ingredients are moistened.
- Drop one tablespoon of dough at a time into boiling stew.
- Cover and cook 12 to 15 minutes or until dumplings are fluffy and no longer doughy underneath.
- Variation: Melted Shortening can be used instead of vegetable oil
